A charity that supercharges community-driven, change-making, and socially impactful organisations by boosting their use of data.
DataKind UK is a small charity that helps other third sector organisations achieve their missions by boosting their use of data analysis and science.
Our founders got the ‘data for good’ movement rolling in the UK in 2013, after seeing what could happen when data expertise was applied to social causes by our sister organisation in the US ⇲.
“Working with DataKind opened our minds to the possibilities of data, and gave us access to so many brilliant data scientists and their different perspectives.”
Lynn Roberts | Director of Growth & Service Design, Action for Children
“Watching a charity team get excited about the data, what it meant, and fully embracing working with data, was fantastic!”
Lisa Carpenter | Lead Data Science Instructor, Digital Futures | Volunteer Committee member
“It is the most fun and impactful work I have done. Not only did it help the charity, but gave me the opportunity to work with different datasets and challenges.”

The change we want to see
After over a decade, our support helps the UK's third sector - charities, voluntary organisations, community interest companies, social enterprises, and more - to tackle rising demand, a stretched workforce, and shrinking resources.
Our work creates a third sector that is inspired by what data can do for it, leads the way in responsible data use, and makes its crucial decisions based on accurate, up-to-date information. This enhances its capacity to support people and provide vital services across the country.
To do this, we provide a mixture of remote and in-person data analysis, support, and resources for free across the UK, by matching third sector organisations with skilled data professionals who donate their expertise and time.
Our work helps organisations to:
Understand the potential of data.
Act on informed decisions.
Build their skills and confidence.
